🏈 Oakville Native Gets Drafted to The NFL

sportsnet.ca
Oakville’s own Kurtis Rourke, who not long ago was leading the offense at Holy Trinity Secondary School, is officially headed to the NFL after being selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the seventh round of the draft. The 24-year-old quarterback, who starred at Indiana University after transferring from Ohio, led the Hoosiers to the College Football Playoff with 3,042 passing yards and 29 touchdowns.
Rourke, now just the sixth Canadian quarterback ever drafted into the NFL, battled through a torn ACL during the season. 49ers GM John Lynch praised his toughness, saying, "The guy plays the game the right way." Rourke, who is expected to be ready for training camp, told team reporter Lindsey Pallares, "I'm going to give everything I've got to you guys."
He now joins a talented San Francisco quarterback room alongside Brock Purdy, Mac Jones, and Tanner Mordecai.

🚴♂️ Halton CEO Cycles to Support Students

Oakville News
Halton Learning Foundation CEO Marc Clare went the distance for local students last week, completing a 110-kilometre "Tour de Halton" ride to raise funds for those in need. Starting at Robert Little Public School in Acton, Clare and five other riders made stops at schools across the region, including Montclair Public School in Oakville, where students and staff came out to cheer them on.
The ride, part of HLF Month, highlights the foundation’s efforts to help students overcome financial barriers by providing basics like food, clothing, school supplies, and access to extracurricular activities. "Right now there are a lot of students in need across Halton," said Clare. "We are helping to raise funds to meet those needs, and that's what [the ride] is all about."
So far this school year, HLF has supported more than 2,800 students, with donations being accepted online until May 2.
