🚦 Speed Cameras Coming to Oakville Streets Starting January 20th

This is what the speed camera looks like

Speed cameras are set to launch in Oakville, Ontario, on January 20 to enhance road safety, particularly in community safety zones near schools, parks, and senior facilities. These automated speed enforcement (ASE) cameras aim to deter speeding and promote safer driving habits.

Key Details:

  • Tickets: Offenders will receive tickets by mail, with fines ranging from $80 to $588 depending on the speed. Tickets do not impact driving records or insurance.

  • Locations: Fourteen portable cameras will be installed, two per ward, with locations publicly disclosed to encourage compliance.

  • Purpose: This initiative complements existing road safety measures, such as traffic calming, speed display boards, education, and police enforcement.

Signs warning about the cameras have already been installed at these locations. The program’s ultimate goal is to improve safety by encouraging drivers to reduce their speeds.
