🎶 All-Canadian Lineup at Sound of Music Festival

Oakville News

The Sound of Music Festival returns June 12–15 with a jam-packed lineup celebrating Canadian talent. Set in Burlington’s scenic Spencer Smith Park, this year’s headliners include Big Wreck, David Wilcox, Tebey, Steven Page, Joel Plaskett, Tim Baker, and Junkhouse.

“This year, we made a conscious decision to ignite the stage with an all-Canadian powerhouse line up,” said festival board chair Dave Shepherd.

Now in its 45th year, the festival remains Canada’s largest free music event and features much more than music, with its signature Midway, Parade, Vendor Marketplace, and Music Education tent. Local partners like Nickelbrook Brewing and the Burlington Performing Arts Centre are also on board to enhance the experience.

Oakville music fans can grab VIP Lounge passes or join the new Encore Club to support the festival and score exclusive perks. Full lineup details and memberships are available on the festival’s official site.

Community Spotlight

🥂 Rotary Oakville to Celebrate 100 Years with Gala

Rotary Oakville is marking a century of “service above self” with a celebratory gala on April 30 at the Oakville Conference & Banquet Centre. The event will feature major announcements, dinner, and opportunities for local non-profits and community members to connect with Rotary clubs across Oakville.

“We’ll be making major announcements, recognizing organizations we’ve supported and talking about our youth programs and other things,” said Susan Sheppard, president-elect of the Rotary Club of Oakville West. She emphasized the club’s commitment to expanding support for local organizations and charitable startups.

Rotary Oakville’s impact over the past 100 years includes contributions to affordable housing, the Oakville hospital, student bursaries, and global initiatives like polio eradication. The gala is also a chance for prospective members to explore volunteering, fundraising, and event roles—including Ribfest, Golf to Give, and the November auction.

🐾 Pet of the Week: Meet Mia

Mia is a four-year-old domestic short hair with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Playful and affectionate, she’s a fan of all things string and wand-related—ready to turn any room into her personal playground. After playtime, she’s quick to find a cozy corner to curl up in for a peaceful nap.

Found as a stray, Mia has adjusted beautifully and is now seeking a forever home where she can be the center of attention. She prefers to be the only cat in the home and would do best with someone who understands her independent spirit. Mia is currently on a special diet and medication to help manage allergies, both of which should be continued with guidance from a vet.

This sweet girl is ready to bring joy to the right home—and now’s a great time to meet her. Mia’s adoption fee is currently reduced. Apply today to see if she’s the match you’ve been waiting for!
