News

From April 28 to May 4, buying a Smile Cookie at Oakville Tim Hortons will support Food4Kids Halton, a charity that provides weekend food packs to children in need.
“We are currently providing food to 1,257 kids every weekend across Halton,” said executive director Jennifer Sully-Ferraro. “Oakville actually has the most kids in our program at 403.”
Each package includes fresh produce, a key need for families facing food insecurity. With no government funding, the charity depends on community support. Funds raised will help run their summer grocery gift card program.
Last year’s Smile Cookie campaign raised $90,000, and organizers hope for a repeat. “We just can’t thank Tim Hortons enough,” Sully-Ferraro said.
⛳ Ontario Boys Live Every Golfer’s Dream

The Ontario Boys, a trio of golfers from the University of Guelph, pose with the four Canadians competing at The Masters this weekend. | Oakville News
Three University of Guelph golfers, known as the Ontario Boys, just returned from a once-in-a-lifetime trip to The Masters. Caleb Patry, Liam Fischer, and Beck Ljungberg began their journey with a last-minute drive to the Players Championship in Florida, which quickly gained social media buzz and opened unexpected doors.
Their story caught the attention of Canadian golfer Corey Conners, who helped them score tickets to The Masters practice rounds. Despite rain on Monday, they made the most of their time in Augusta, meeting several pros and capturing a dream photo with all four Canadians in the field.
The trio’s golf adventure isn’t over. They’ve been invited to a charity event in South Carolina and plan to attend the RBC Canadian Open in June. As Fischer put it, “It’s been a dream,” and the Ontario Boys are still riding the wave.
🛍️ Hudson’s Bay Sale Update: Major Markdowns in Full Swing
Hudson’s Bay has kicked off a new wave of steep discounts as its store closures continue across Canada. Shoppers can now find furniture, luggage, and jewelry at 50 per cent off, with patio sets at 40 per cent off and most other items reduced by 25 per cent.
The updated deals launched Thursday and are drawing large crowds eager to scoop up big savings before stock runs out.

⚔️ Knight School Brings Medieval Mayhem to Milton

Knight School | Oakville News
What do you get when two champion jousters fall in love? In Milton, you get Knight School Inc., a wildly fun, fully mobile medieval combat experience run by Joshua Knowles and Jaclyn Ziemniak. From sword-wielding kids’ camps to full-scale team-building sessions for businesses, their programs let anyone channel their inner knight—no horse required.
The couple met through the jousting circuit, with Knowles starring on Full Metal Jousting and Ziemniak breaking barriers as North America’s only female competitor. Now, they’re combining battle skills with leadership lessons, showing how ancient tactics can inspire modern teamwork.
Whether it’s a kid shouting “I feel powerful” or a manager picking up a sword for the first time, Knight School is about more than fun—it’s about confidence, connection, and maybe a little controlled chaos.
🦴 Pet Spotlight: Meet Joni!

Joni is a 5-year-old spayed Havanese with a shy, gentle heart and a big love for other dogs. Currently at the Oakville & Milton Humane Society, she’s looking for a calm, adult-only home with another friendly pup to help her build confidence.
She’s still working on leash walking and house training, but she’s food motivated and loves to show off her favourite stuffies and bones. If you have experience with nervous dogs and a lot of love to give, Joni could be your perfect match!
