🏠 Housing Market Update
A new report from the Canadian Real Estate Association shows home prices in Oakville are still falling, but there are early signs the market might be levelling out. This is because of what is happening on a national level: more houses are being sold while prices are holding steady (on average).
On a similar note, a local Reddit user shared how much a house in Oakville would have cost back in 1998, take a look:
Oh, how things change.
🎬 OFFA Kicks Off with Big Plans (and Bigger Budget)
The Oakville Film Festival kicks off today after some exciting news: a $112,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and plans to continue growing beyond town borders. This year’s lineup includes screenings in Mississauga on Sunday, June 22, and Burlington is set to join in 2026.
Festival director Wendy Donnan says the move will help reach new audiences, bring in fresh talent, and offer more screenings, galas, and Q&As. With no community film festivals in Mississauga or Burlington, OFFA is filling the gap. Just don’t be surprised if they need a new name soon, “Halton-Peel Film Festival” anyone?
🍖 Ribfest This Weekend
In case you needed another reminder, the Oakville Family Ribfest is back this weekend, running from Thursday to Sunday at Sheridan College. With nine ribbers, dozens of food vendors, live music, amusement rides, a Kids’ Zone, and a packed Community Marketplace, you can’t miss it.
Admission is $5 on Thursday and $7 the rest of the weekend, with all net proceeds going to local charities. Don’t miss Toonie Thursday for ride discounts or Sunday’s ribs showdown to vote for your favourite.

🌲 Canada Strong Pass Starts This Friday
Starting this Friday, the new Canada Strong Pass gives everyone free admission to national parks, historic sites, and marine areas managed by Parks Canada, with no registration or pass needed. The program runs all summer until September 2.
Perks include 25% off camping fees, free museum entry for kids under 18, and travel discounts for 18–24 year-olds. Via Rail is even letting kids ride free with an adult. Unfortunately there aren’t any national parks here in Oakville, but this could be your chance to go on that hiking/fishing trip you’ve always talked about!
Visit Oakville wants your help with solving the question that has been on everyone’s minds, which Oakville restaurant has the best kinds menu?
Our initial thoughts are a tie between all of the chicken tenders w/ fries in town, or maybe your child’s pallet is far more advanced and we are completely off base. The winner of the contest gets featured in Visit Oakville’s newsletter and wins a promo video. Plus bragging rights, of course.

Weather
Thanks to everyone that responded to Monday’s poll about what we should do with this section. We are currently sitting at an exact tie, with 50 votes for keep, and 50 votes for replace (maybe we’ll just flip a coin!… Just kidding).
We received so many great ideas and are excited about what is to come. The weather section will remain for now, but stay posted for updates.
