🍝 Verace Named One of Canada’s Best Patios Once Again

Oakville News

Verace Restaurant in downtown Oakville has once again earned national recognition, landing a spot on OpenTable’s list of Canada’s top 100 patios for the third year in a row. The list, based on over one million verified reviews, highlights standout dining spots across the country for their outdoor ambiance and culinary excellence.

Located at 312 Lakeshore Road East, Verace is celebrated for its hearty Italian cuisine, including wood-fired Neapolitan pizza, handmade pasta, and classic tiramisu. “This means so much as we take pride in creating a warm and inviting atmosphere while serving authentic Italian cuisine,” said co-owner Aleksandra Popovic. She credited the team’s dedication and the community’s continued support for the restaurant’s ongoing success.

Open since 2021, Verace has become a local favourite for both food and atmosphere. It is the only Oakville restaurant to make this year’s list, joining nearby Burlington spots Isabelle Restaurant and Lounge and Spencer’s at the Waterfront.

🧠 Halton Expands Mental Health Crisis Response Team

InsideHalton

Halton police have partnered with Halton Healthcare to expand the Mobile Crisis Rapid Response Team (MCRRT), aiming to improve care for people experiencing mental health emergencies. The expanded team pairs a specially trained officer with a healthcare professional to respond together to urgent calls, ensuring both safety and appropriate support.

The MCRRT has operated in Halton since 2016 through a partnership with St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, responding to nearly 1,800 mental health-related calls in just over a year. With Halton Healthcare now on board, police estimate the team will be able to handle 10 percent more of these cases across the region.

“This program is an exceptional way of ensuring that folks in the community going through a mental health crisis get the right kind of care at the right time,” said Deputy Chief Kevin Maher. Officials hope the expanded approach will reduce repeat crises and ease demand on front line officers.
