🤖 Siemens Brings AI Battery Hub to Oakville

Big news for Oakville—Siemens is expanding its presence with a $150-million investment to launch a Global AI Manufacturing R&D Centre for battery production right at its local headquarters. The project is expected to create up to 90 new jobs.

“This investment is a vote of confidence in our world-class workforce,” said Premier Doug Ford, celebrating the announcement as part of Ontario’s growing electric vehicle supply chain strategy.

To support the move, the province is pitching in $7.2 million through the Invest Ontario Fund. With over a century of partnership between Siemens and Ontario, this latest chapter signals exciting tech and job growth ahead.

🌧️ Rain’s Coming—Watch Those Waterways!

Oakville News

Oakville’s in for a soggy stretch starting this afternoon as a major storm rolls in, dropping up to 50mm of rain with a chance of thunderstorms. While a full flood isn’t expected, Conservation Halton says fast-flowing water and some flooding in low-lying areas are possible.

Locals are urged to keep a safe distance from rivers, creeks, bridges, and culverts—especially kids. “Please alert children in your care of these imminent dangers,” the agency advises.

The flood outlook stays in place through Friday, April 4. Stay safe, and maybe swap the sneakers for boots this week!

🐶 Pet Spotlight: Meet Mocha!

Meet Mocha—a 1-year-old Belgian Malinois/Shepherd mix with brains, energy, and serious snow-day vibes. She’s playful, goofy, and always up for a treat (or two), but needs a calm, experienced home to help her thrive.

Mocha’s not a fan of cats, and she'd do best in an adult-only home (or one with dog-savvy teens) with a yard for zoomies. She’s eager to learn and ready for her next adventure—could it be with you?

InsideHalton

Oakville is inviting public input on a proposed bylaw that would restrict certain protests within 20 metres of schools, hospitals, daycares, libraries, and places of worship.

Residents can review the draft and submit feedback by April 13. A revised version heads to council on May 1.
