🚧 Halton Seeks Input on Big Upgrades
Halton Region is asking residents to share their thoughts on two important projects that will shape Oakville and Milton’s future. First, they’re planning improvements along Regional Road 25, from Speers Road to Derry Road. The upgrades could include widening the road, making intersections safer, and adding better sidewalks and bike lanes to reduce congestion and improve safety for everyone.
Second, they’re looking to upgrade Oakville’s Mid-Halton Wastewater Treatment Plant by increasing its capacity from 125 to 175 million litres per day. This will help provide reliable wastewater services and support new homes and businesses as the community grows. Both projects are open for public feedback this month through quick online surveys.
🍦 7 Cool Oakville Ice Cream Spots
The summer heat is here, and InsideHalton has rounded up seven great places in Oakville to cool off with an ice-cream treat. From Bronte Harbour’s Duckies Dairy Bar with mango and monster cookie flavours, to downtown’s Il Gelato di Carlotta serving artisanal Italian gelato, there’s no shortage of sweet options to keep residents refreshed and smiling.
🏊 Brookdale Pool Closed Friday
Swimmers, take note: Brookdale outdoor pool at 1215 Bridge Road will close this Friday, July 11, 2025, from 10:30am-8pm while the town inspects and tests its mysteriously dropping water levels. All swim programs are cancelled during the closure, so plan to cool off elsewhere by checking the town’s website for other options.

🍽️ Oakville Fish & Chips Wins $10K Grant

Oakville Fish & Chips, located at 1395 Abbeywood Drive, has been awarded a $10,000 grant from DoorDash Canada’s #BlackFoodEnergy program to help expand services, hire staff, or upgrade equipment. The program celebrates Black-led restaurants making an impact in their communities.
Owner Felicia Jules-Aurelis said the funds will support the family-run shop’s 100-year legacy of serving authentic meals in Oakville, helping the business grow through future generations while continuing to share its rich tradition and flavours with locals. After 100 years, they must really have that fish & chips recipe nailed down, pay them a visit and see for yourself!
