🎬 Movies in the Park Returns

Movies in the Park is one of Oakville’s most beloved summer traditions, turning local parks into open-air cinemas where families, friends, and neighbours gather under the stars. It’s a simple formula: a big screen, comfy blankets, popcorn in hand, and the kind of atmosphere you can only get on a warm evening surrounded by community.

This year’s lineup features fun for all ages, with animated adventures like Kung Fu Panda 4, family favourites like The Lion King, and action-packed crowd-pleasers like How to Train Your Dragon. Whether you're in it for the laughs, the music, or the shared moments, it's all about summer nights done right. Keep an eye out on our events section to see which movies are playing and when!

🏠 Halton’s Housing Future

Halton is planning for 92,500 new homes by 2031, with over 11,600 already approved in Oakville. To support this growth, the Region is putting $5.2 billion into water, wastewater, and road infrastructure so builders can get moving faster.

Through its Allocation Program, Halton makes sure new developments get the services they need as soon as infrastructure is ready. Oakville has the groundwork in place, but local roads, utilities, and market conditions still affect how quickly homes go up.

📸 Take Pictures, Win Money

The Nature Conservancy of Canada’s Big Backyard BioBlitz is back from July 28 to Aug. 4, inviting Oakville residents to snap photos of plants and wildlife in their neighbourhoods. All you need is a phone or camera and a bit of curiosity.

Photos or audio clips shared online with #NCCBioBlitz help scientists track species across Canada, and you could even win a $100 gift card!

🐾 Pet Spotlight: Meatball!

Meatball is a playful, food-loving pup who enjoys sniff walks, toys, and soaking up attention. He’s affectionate and smart, though he can get a little overstimulated at times. He’s looking for an experienced, adult-only home with direct outdoor access, no cats, and someone excited to keep up his training and help him thrive.

🎭 Oakville Players Team Up for Heathers

Two local theatre groups are joining forces for a bold new production of Heathers: The Musical this fall. The Oakville Players and Connect Theatre, known for their very different styles, are collaborating to bring this edgy, dark comedy to life with a cast of youth and adults. Rehearsals start in September, with performances planned in both Hamilton and Oakville this December.

The partnership blends TOP’s experience with CT’s youth-focused energy, creating a professional-level show without big-budget resources. Auditions drew over 80 hopefuls, and the buzz is already building. With a live orchestra, seasoned directors, and a shared love for theatre, this co-production is shaping up to be anything but ordinary.
