🚧 Major Projects Reshape Oakville
Oakville is investing over $42.5 million this year to improve infrastructure, enhance public spaces, and support community growth. Here’s a quick look at key construction projects now underway across town:
🏖️ Bronte Beach Redevelopment
Years of erosion are being addressed with a full beach and park rejuvenation. Expect a new playground, upgraded paths and seating, and native dune plantings. The beach will reopen later this month, with shaping of the shoreline continuing into next season.
🚸 Traffic Calming in School Zones
Safety upgrades are coming to nine school zones, including Captain R. Wilson and Oodenawi. Expect raised medians, lateral shifts, and bollards to help curb speeding near schools.
🛣️ Road Resurfacing Program
More than 30 roads across Wards 2-6 are getting fresh asphalt, curb and sidewalk repairs, and drainage upgrades. Projects take 3-5 weeks and are done in six phases.
🏟️ Sixteen Mile Sports Complex Expansion
Phase 3 is underway, adding volleyball, pickleball, basketball, and tennis courts, plus work on the new community centre and library. The full facility is set to open in 2026.
🌧️ Westminster Drive Drainage Upgrades
New storm sewers, ditches, and a grit separator are coming to fix drainage from Hixon Street to Lakeshore Road. Completion is expected this fall.
Our town just keeps getting better and better, and it’s not slowing down anytime soon.
🏊 White Oaks Pool Partial Closure
White Oaks indoor pool will close weekdays from 6am-5pm between Aug. 18 and Sept. 1 for roof repairs. All public swims, programs, and rentals are cancelled during those hours.
Don’t be too upset, evening swims and weekend hours remain unaffected - and there are many other pools that could keep you busy in the meantime.
💥 Speed Camera Carnage
There has been a lot of discussion about speed cameras here on the newsletter within the last week or so. As we have discovered, many of you are not the biggest fans - and here is some proof:
Ouch, that’s gotta hurt.

🍁 Oakville Hockey Excellence

Source: Oakville News
Five young players from Oakville have been selected to Hockey Canada’s U-17 and U-18 summer camps, both held at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex. Representing the U-17 group are Charlie Weiss, a standout goalie with a 1.23 GAA last season, and Alex Forrest, a smooth-skating defenceman known for his leadership.
For the U-18 squad, Callum Croskery, Ethan Belchetz, and Dima Zhilkin are in the running for Team Canada’s Hlinka-Gretzky Cup roster. All three had strong OHL seasons and are hoping to secure a spot on the national stage. A proud moment for Oakville’s hockey scene.
