🎸 Kerrfest 2025 Swaps Headliner

Kerrfest is still on track for its big weekend from September 5-7, but the Friday night lineup has shifted. Chalk Circle, originally booked for a 6:15pm slot on opening night, has withdrawn due to unforeseen circumstances. Stepping in is veteran Canadian blues-rocker Bill Durst, whose energetic style should bring a different kind of fire to the stage.

Durst is no stranger to the spotlight, with a decades-long career that includes 12 albums, over 125 original songs, and gigs alongside legends like Rush, Aerosmith, and Burton Cummings. He’s toured across North America and Europe, earning a solid fan base along the way.

🔥 Oakville Lifts Fire Ban

The Oakville Fire Department has ended its open-air burn ban, in place since August 11 due to dry conditions. Recent rainfall and cooler weather prompted the change. Residents are still urged to follow fire safety guidelines and check that smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are working.

⛸️ Oakville Skater Heads to Latvia

Seventeen-year-old Grayson Long of Oakville is set to represent Canada at the ISU Junior Grand Prix in Riga, Latvia, running August 20-23. The international competition draws top skaters aged 13-19 from six continents, spotlighting the next generation of elite figure skating talent.

Long earned his spot with standout performances earlier this year, including gold at Skate Canada’s NextGen and silver at the 2025 Cranberry Cup. He’ll compete in the men’s singles event, with all action streaming free on the ISU Junior Grand Prix YouTube channel. An impressive milestone for a rising Oakville star.
