📉 Oakville Home Prices Drop as Listings Climb

InsideHalton
Oakville’s housing market cooled in March. The average home price slipped to $1.46 million, down $49,000 from February. Sales were down 33 percent compared to last year, while the number of homes for sale jumped by nearly 50 percent.
Detached homes saw the biggest price drop, now averaging $1.96 million. But not all homes followed the same path. Townhouse-style condos rose to $838,000, up over 8 percent.
Homes are taking about a month to sell, and with more options on the market, prices could keep softening. Still, compared to 2015, home values are up a huge 78 percent.
🌬️ Spring’s Still on Vacation

It’s Wednesday, and while the calendar says April, the weather clearly didn’t get the memo. This week’s been a wild mix of sun, snow, rain, and winds strong enough to relocate your garbage bins.
Monday gave us a brief hint of spring—then slammed us with cold rain and 70 km/h gusts. Tuesday followed up with flurries and wind chills that felt more like February.
Today’s slightly calmer, but don’t let your guard down. It’s still chilly, and more gloomy skies are on the way. Basically, it’s one of those weeks where you leave home in sunglasses and regret not wearing snow boots. Classic Ontario.

🎒 Support Halton Students, Double the Impact

Oakville News
The Halton Learning Foundation is back with its Your Community, Your Impact fundraiser—and this year, donations are being matched up to $25,000 thanks to CN.
The goal? Help more students focus on learning, not on empty stomachs or missing supplies. Last year’s campaign raised $30,000 and supported 150 students. This year, HLF has already helped over 2,500 and expects to reach 3,600 by June.
Want to chip in? Host a fundraiser, grab a ticket to Students in the Spotlight on April 30, or donate online. Every dollar goes toward meals, school gear, and making sure no student misses out.
🐟 Salmon Stocking Splash at Bronte Draws a Crowd

Three year-old Lucas with mom Katherine Di Pastena get a helping hand from a volunteer in releasing dozens of salmon fingerlings into their floating pen | Graham Paine for Oakville News
Families gathered at Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park on Saturday for the 8th annual Chinook Salmon Penning event, helping release 15,000 fingerlings into the lake. Hosted by the Halton Region Salmon & Trout Association, the hands-on event gave kids like Lucas a front-row seat to local conservation in action.
The young salmon will spend a few weeks in floating pens at Bronte Outer Harbour before being released—eventually growing up to 40 pounds.
This community highlight, featured by Oakville News, brought together residents, volunteers, and plenty of wide-eyed kids for an afternoon that was both educational and full of splashy fun.
