🌐 Anand Named Canada’s New Foreign Affairs Minister

Oakville East MP Anita Anand has been appointed as Canada’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs in Prime Minister Mark Carney’s cabinet, announced May 13 in Ottawa. Anand, recently re-elected in the 2025 federal election, takes over the portfolio from Mélanie Joly.
A seasoned cabinet member, Anand previously held roles in defence, procurement, and innovation under former prime minister Justin Trudeau. Her appointment is part of a broader cabinet shuffle that includes a mix of returning ministers and new faces as the Carney-led minority government begins its first term.
🎶 Summer in the Square Brings Music, Art, and Heart
Mark your calendar for Thursday, June 5, as Summer in the Square transforms Oakville Town Square into a lively celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. Enjoy a live performance by orchestral rock pianist Junior Carelli while artist Tiffany Pratt paints a grand piano right on site. That same piano will be auctioned off to support The Lighthouse for Grieving Children & Families.
There’s more fun in store with raffle baskets from local shops, plus a donation boost courtesy of the Masonic Foundation. Hosted by Every Avenue Real Estate with help from community partners, this event is all about bringing Oakville together to support a meaningful cause.
