🌳 Free Trees for North Oakville Residents

The Oakvillegreen Conservation Association is giving away free native trees and shrubs to residents living north of Dundas Street as part of their Low Canopy Neighbourhood Greening Initiative. This effort aims to boost greenery in areas with lower tree canopy coverage, especially in rapidly developing parts of north Oakville.

Supported by Nature Canada’s Tree Equity Grant, the initiative encourages a more balanced distribution of urban greenery throughout the town. Eligible residents can reserve one free tree or shrub per property by completing the tree adoption form.

The deadline for submissions is March 28, and availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. Tree and shrub pick-up is scheduled for May 24 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Municipal Greenhouse (1100 Cornwall Rd). Don’t forget to bring valid ID to confirm your address!

❄️ Snowy Sidewalks? Oakville's Got It Covered!

Oakville is digging out after a massive snowfall that dumped over 65 cm of snow between Feb. 10 and 17. While the roads are cleared, sidewalks are still a work in progress—and it’s going to take a few more weeks to finish the job.

Primary sidewalks were cleared first, wrapping up on Saturday. Secondary sidewalks, including school routes, were completed on Sunday. Residential sidewalks are now getting attention, with all clearing set to be done by March 10.

The first pass made sidewalks walkable, but crews will be back for a second round to tidy things up. They’re working around the clock, so hang tight—clear paths are on the way!
