🏊 Free Swim to Survive Classes Offered
Oakville is marking Drowning Prevention Week (July 20-26) with free “Swim to Survive” classes at Lions Pool from July 21-25, running 4-5pm daily. Open to residents age six and up, the sessions teach vital survival skills like treading water, rolling into deep water, and swimming 50 metres. Pre-registration is required, and each participant must sign up individually.
While over 1,700 Grade 3 students completed the program this spring, the town aims to reach more families through these inclusive sessions. Sponsored by FirstOntario Credit Union and run in partnership with the Lifesaving Society, the initiative also includes themed pool activities and a blue-lit Town Hall on July 25 in support of World Drowning Prevention Day.
🐰 Celebrate National Adoption Week
Looking to meet a new furry friend? The Oakville & Milton Humane Society is teaming up with PetSmart for National Adoption Week, hosting in-store rabbit adoptions at Oakville Place PetSmart on Tuesday July 22nd and Wednesday the 23rd from 12-5pm. Volunteers will be there to introduce the rabbits, answer questions, and help you find the perfect match.

🎓 Lorvale Academy Opens New Oakville Campus

Source: Oakville News
Lorvale Academy celebrated the grand opening of its Oakville campus on July 12 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Mayor Rob Burton and over 200 guests. Located at 373 Wyecroft Rd, the new facility combines 6,000 sq. ft. of academic space with 6,000 sq. ft. of elite athletic amenities, offering a rare blend of STEM, arts, and sports education under one roof.
Built on a “Learn Beyond Limits” philosophy, Lorvale aims to attract families seeking whole-child development through programs in robotics, music, math, chess, and competitive sports. Originally founded in Markham, the academy is now one of the GTA’s top enrichment providers. As Mayor Burton called it, the school marks a “milestone” in Oakville’s growing independent education scene.
